The Butterfly Effect

What if i told you World War 1 could have been avoided if a car did not take a wrong turn. What if i told you John F Kennedy would have survived assassination if he did not play a sport in childhood. It all happened because of butterfly effect. When a butterfly flaps its wings it creates a small gust of wind .These small gusts of winds move across the air becoming bigger and bigger eventually turning into a massive tornado causing massive destruction and loss of lives. This captivating idea is called the butterfly effect. In simple words,a little event can cause a major unexpected event in the future. In 1914,the Austrian duke and his wife were touring Sarajevo.During the tour, the driver of duke's car made a wrong turn and got lost and landed right in front of a terror group who shot and killed the archbishop and his wife. The immediate effect was Austria declaring war on Serbia.Countries started to take sides with Russia siding with Serbia and rest of the countries siding with Austria. Thus began World War 1 ,all because of a wrong turn. The butterfly effect was popularised by Edward Lorenz,a meteorologist and mathematician in the 1960s while modelling weather systems.Lorenz discovered small changes in initial conditions could lead to vastly different outcomes. The butterfly effect is not just about weather. It applies to various fields. In economics tiny market fluctuations can lead to significant financial fluctuations. In Biology, minor genetic mutations can result in significant changes. In sociology, small social movements can ignite large scale societal shifts. In business ,the butterfly effect teaches us that small decisions can have profound impacts. That is why we should pay attention to details and act significantly.
